Welcome to Jefferson Hills!  We are confident your child’s placement here will prove to be beneficial to you and your family.  We understand that out-of-home placement can be a difficult and stressful time for any parent.  We believe that your child/youth’s treatment will be more effective if you and your family are involved with the program and your child’s treatment.  We have many opportunities for your involvement and input.

The staff at Jefferson Hills are experienced, skilled, and invested in helping you and your child/youth with the issues that bring him/her to Jefferson Hills, and his/her return home and into the community.  We employ a multi-disciplinary staff of licensed therapists, nurses, psychiatrists, direct care staff and supervisors, certified teachers, teacher’s aides, and support staff.

The time spent here will be full of orientation, assessment, treatment planning, learning new coping strategies, earning school credits, working toward a GED, individual therapy sessions, family sessions, group therapy sessions, and recreation.

Family involvement is crucial to the success of your child.  You can be involved in many ways:  providing information for the initial assessment, giving input for the treatment plan, attending family sessions and case conferences, visiting regularly, regular phone contact, and being involved in the discharge planning.

Jefferson Hills provides a fully approved school program through the State Department of Education and AdvanceEd Accreditation.  Your child will be in school daily and earning credits, as appropriate, towards a diploma, or working towards taking the GED test.  Our education staff will be in contact with your child’s home school to coordinate both the educational plan, credits, and return back to school, as indicated.

Our medical staff is skilled in assessing and treating routine medical problems.  A daily “sick call” is communicated to nursing staff for general illness.  We also contract with Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics for weekly on-site advanced practice nurse and/or physician coverage.  For emergency needs, our medical staff is contacted and the child may be taken to an emergency room or urgent care clinic as needed.  911 would be contacted for imminent emergency needs.  Staff are trained in CPR and First Aid.

Our Aurora site is conveniently located near I-225 and Mississippi, across from the Medical Center of Aurora.  Our Lakewood site is also conveniently located near Simms and 6th Avenue, next to Red Rocks College.
